Welcome Message

August 2011

Hello Parents,

We hope that this letter finds you enjoying your summer! The owner, Beata, decided to make several major changesand financial investments to our already phenomenal program. This summer at EAEE we have been feverishly workingon improvements to the academic programs, the facility and grounds, and the faculty. Some of these enhancements include:

Academic Enhancements

  • Newly Designed Toddler Program/Classroom — the time has finally come and the new toddler room will berevealed at the Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting on Friday, August 5th at 9:00am. If you are in town, wewould love for you to join us! We are pleased to introduce this state of the art classroom that encouragesdevelopmentally appropriate learning. This “home away from home” will offer the children an easier transitionfrom home to school while maintaining elevated academic rigor.
  • Second Grade Program — we are so pleased to launch our second grade program this school year! Thecurriculum and lessons have been strategically planned to increase the academic success of children during andafter they graduate from EAEE. Their fresh new textbooks and brand new curriculum will provide an excitingand challenging year for our outstanding students.
  • Reading Programs — we proud to announce the EAEE has purchased a new computer based reading programcalled Scholastic Reading Counts (RC) and Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI).
  • Reading Counts provides children with a measurable and highly motivating reading strategy that isproven to raise reading achievement for all students. RC will motivate students with suggested readingchoices that match their interest and reading level; empower teachers and staff to utilize the reportsderived from the data; and reinforce student comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency.

  • Scholastic Reading Inventory is a research based, computer adaptive reading assessment program forchildren K-12 that measures reading comprehension on the Lexile Framework for Reading. SRI helpseducators differentiate instruction, make meaningful interventions and challenges, and demonstrate accountability.

  • Revised Curriculum, Standards, and Progress Reports — although the curriculum, standards and progressreports were excellent, there is always room for improvement. The academic standards were rewritten withsome alterations that encourage a deeper understanding of content. EAEE has always maintained elevatedacademic standards and the bar has been raised again. With these alterations, the curriculum needed to betweaked to justify the standards. In addition, the progress reports will read easier and flow more fluidly fromquarter to quarter as each objective is spelled out.
  • Sleek Website — our new website has been a long time coming! As promised, we finally have our new site upand running. Updates will constantly be made to the site and information and events occur. The site will provide another communication tool between school and home as updates will be posted often. Take a look atour fresh, new site at www.theeuropeanacademy.net .

Facility & Grounds Enhancements

  • Security System Update — our most precious belongings attend our school so safety is our top priority! Werecently updated all of the security cameras and recording systems to enhance the protection of our little ones.We have recycled the old “tubes” replacing them with a large plasma on the wall providing a larger image forviewing.
  • Interior Deep Cleaning — summer cleaning has happened at EAEE! All interior rooms have been professionallyscrubbed and sanitized from ceiling to floor and everything in between—even the furniture was pressurewashed! We take pride in the cleanliness and appearance of your child’s learning environment.
  • Additional Landscaping — has been added to the exterior grounds of EAEE! Beautiful greenery, flowers andhundreds of bags of mulch surrounding the campus have polished off the gorgeous scenery.

Faculty Enhancements

With our new toddler facility we hired a full time teacher to accommodate the self contained classroom. In addition, wewelcome two more new faces to our faculty!

  • Toddler Teacher — Miss Deanna Braden is a warm nurturer that absolutely adores children. She will be theperfect balance of kindness with a firm stance on the academic rigor and natural development of youngchildren. Deanna also bears several years experience with toddlers through Kindergarten age children!
  • Art Teacher — Miss Laurie Chisholm comes to us with over 16 years experience in both education and Art. Shehas a passion for teaching children as she assisted her previous director in a leadership setting. While Lauriemaintains a creative flare, she has a very “type A” personality that thrives on organization and self improvement.Since Laurie was offered the Art position, she has been in her room everyday preparing herself and the childrenfor a phenomenal year. Her motivation is contagious and highly regarded!
  • Spanish Teacher — Miss Allison Pinkerton comes to us with many tricks up her sleeve. She graduated with honorsmajoring in Spanish and worked with preschool-high school age children. Additionally, Allison has a severe lovefor performing arts. You may have seen her in several plays at the Venice Theatre! Spanish will be taught using aconversational and dramatic expression approach making the Spanish language and culture even more enticingfor students.

We couldn’t be more pleased to have these three phenomenal teacherson board. They are extremely excited and anxious to get the school year off to a fantastic start!
